DANROW
Eclipsed Land • Population 40,000
Hidden deep within flooded canyons and eternal forest shadows, Danrow endures as a harsh refuge built by those the world once feared, hunted, and abandoned.
The Hidden Canyon

Danrow was never meant to be found.

Deep within an ancient forest lies a canyon so isolated that even experienced travelers can pass within miles of it without realizing it exists. The cliffs are steep, the terrain perpetually flooded, and the dense canopy above conceals much of the ravine from sight. Only during a brief window each day, when the sun hangs directly overhead, does true sunlight reach the canyon floor.

For the rest of the day, Danrow exists beneath shadow.

It was here that escaped Animalfused sought refuge following the Human-Dragon war. Fleeing the Human creators who engineered and controlled them, the survivors vanished into the canyon and built homes directly into the cliff faces themselves. Hidden from the outside world, they endured in secrecy for centuries.

Survival shaped every aspect of Danrowan society. Life within the canyon was harsh, disciplined, and deeply communal. The descendants of the original founders organized the city through rigid social structures intended not for luxury, but for endurance.

Dwelling placement became a symbol of civic worth. Citizens who secured food supplies, reinforced flood defenses, or maintained critical infrastructure earned homes higher along the cliffside, where conditions were safer and drier. Those considered less essential occupied lower levels closer to the dangerous canyon floor.

Strangely, leaders reside at the very bottom.

Danrowans believe authority carries obligation rather than privilege. Those who make decisions are expected to accept the greatest danger first. To rule from safety while others suffer is viewed as cowardice.

The people of Danrow possess few luxuries. Personal wealth carries little meaning within the canyon, and unnecessary excess is often viewed with suspicion. Punishments are swift and uncompromising. Criminals are branded publicly so their crimes can never be hidden, while the worst offenders are denied cliffside housing altogether — a punishment many consider equivalent to execution.

Beyond the canyon lies another danger: the endless forest.

The woods surrounding Danrow have belonged to Pixies since before recorded history. Their hidden settlements weave invisibly through the treetops, connected by gossip, tricks, and elaborate pranks played upon travelers foolish enough to wander too deeply beneath the canopy.

It was the Pixies who doomed Danrow’s secrecy.

Amused by outsiders, the Pixies began spreading absurd rumors of a hidden golden city deep within the woods — a place where gods ruled over monstrous servants and fountains flowed with immortal wine. The stories were meant as jokes.

Eventually, explorers from Keridwyn decided to investigate.

When the kingdom finally discovered Danrow, the city was offered membership within Keridwyn under the guise of friendship and unity. Danrow’s leaders understood the reality immediately. Refusal would almost certainly lead to destruction.

So Danrow joined the kingdom.

Many citizens still harbor resentment toward Pixies for the role their careless rumors played in exposing the city to the outside world.

Though Danrow adopted many of the same gods worshipped throughout Keridwyn, their interpretations differ sharply from those found elsewhere. Danrowan art and scripture depict the gods with animalistic features rather than idealized Human forms. Many within the city openly believe Humans to be spiritually incomplete — lesser reflections of the divine rather than its favored children.

These beliefs have long unsettled neighboring cities. Since the gates of Keridwyn closed, fear and suspicion toward Danrow have only intensified. Across the kingdom, rumors spread of a corrupted city hidden in the woods where blasphemous creatures worship twisted gods in darkness.

Yet the truth is more complicated.

Despite its severe customs and intimidating reputation, Danrow has become a refuge for the displaced, the unwanted, and those fleeing hardship elsewhere in the fractured kingdom. Anyone willing to accept the city’s laws may find shelter within the canyon walls.

The population has diversified greatly since the collapse of Keridwyn, though Animalfused still remain the largest portion of Danrow’s citizens — descendants of the refugees who first vanished into the shadows centuries ago.

Heroes of Danrow
SILMA
Hydra
Ancient Aberration

Silma is an enormous Hydra whose immense reptilian body resembles a wingless Dragon stretched into serpentine form. Five towering necks rise from her massive frame, each ending in a distinct head with its own personality, memories, and voice.

Her sheer scale is enough to terrify even seasoned warriors. Her claws gouge trenches through stone while her elevated heads can peer above the forest canopy itself.

Yet Silma is more than a monster.

When multiple souls become trapped within a single body, the result is known as an Aberration — a rare and usually catastrophic phenomenon that often destroys the mind entirely. Silma survived only because her unusual physiology allowed each soul to inhabit its own head. Five minds exist within one body, arguing, debating, and cooperating constantly.

Together, they all share the name Silma.

The Hydra is ancient enough to remember the wilderness before the rise of Human kingdoms. Long before Danrow existed, the canyon belonged to her alone.

When the fleeing Animalfused first arrived seeking refuge, four of Silma’s heads found the newcomers interesting or sympathetic. The fifth wanted to devour them immediately. The majority prevailed, and the refugees were allowed to remain.

For generations Silma watched the hidden city grow in silence from the deeper shadows of the canyon.

Her existence remained unknown until a militant expedition from Symtar descended upon Danrow. Their leader believed slaughtering the “blasphemous beasts” of the canyon would earn divine favor and strengthen their campaign against the Endless Tower.

This time, the fifth head convinced the other four.

The invaders never left the canyon.

After witnessing Silma defend the city, the people of Danrow wisely chose diplomacy over fear. Over time the Hydra transformed from whispered nightmare into revered guardian, and today she remains one of the canyon’s oldest and most respected protectors.

“Four of us thought you were worth saving. The fifth still has doubts.”
TUSK
Flanker
Rhinofused

Tusk is a massive Rhinofused whose broad frame rivals the size of a warhorse. Built upon four powerful legs and protected by thick natural armor, he combines overwhelming bulk with startling agility.

His mastery of Gravity magic allows him to perform feats most would consider impossible. He can charge across cliff faces, leap impossible distances, and maneuver through Danrow’s vertical pathways with frightening speed despite his immense size.

Before becoming a warrior, Tusk worked as a runner within the canyon. He transported messages, supplies, and travelers across dangerous terrain where slower citizens could not survive. Years of service earned him a respected dwelling high along the cliffside.

Tusk loves Danrow with uncomplicated sincerity. He respects the resilience of its people and treasures the canyon’s towering views, endless forests, and brutal honesty. To him, the city represents survival without shame.

When conflict threatens the canyon, Tusk answers without hesitation. Defense of his home is one of the few matters he views as completely unquestionable.

Politics, however, are another matter entirely.

Tusk has little patience for the tangled motives driving the fractured cities of the former kingdom into endless conflict. He particularly dislikes offensive campaigns, preferring to fight only when Danrow itself is endangered.

There is one exception.

If battle ever carries him to Enviro, Tusk intends to settle matters personally with the deserter Tharn — a grievance he has no interest in forgiving.

“The canyon survives because everyone carries weight. Some people forget that once life becomes comfortable.”
